A Little About
Me
Hello, my name
is Crystal Smyth and I am fairly new to Esparto High School. Most parents and students remember my face because I am
a local to the community. I grew up in Woodland and was an active member not only in 4-H. but in the FFA. In high school,
I was selected to be a Yolo County 4-H All Star and the FFA Chapter Reporter. In addition, I was an active member in California
High School Rodeo Association and was a Division One rider in California State Horsemen's Association Gymkhana Program.
As a member in the FFA, I raised Hogs, Horses, Steers, and Sheep. I had a sincere interest in Livestock Showmanship, Public
Speaking, and Opening and Closing Ceremonies along with all of the Leadership Programs the FFA had to offer. As a junior,
I attended the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky and was a member of the Public Speaking team. Upon graduating
high school in 2002, I began my higher education at the University of California, Davis.
As a student
at UC Davis, I participated in Aggie Ambassadors, Sigma Alpha (National Agriculture Sorority), and Alpha Tau Alpha. I was
the chair of the UC Davis Horse Judging Contest and helped host visiting high school students who had an interest in the campus.
As a member in Alpha Tau Alpha, I attended the National FFA Convention and participated in the National Agriculture Teacher's
Bowl. I graduated in the Fall of 2005, and began my Credentialing Courses at Chico State University.
At Chico
State, I studied for my Single Subject and Specialist Agriculture Credentials. Upon graduating, I began teaching at Esparto
High School and have continued there this year. I love teaching in a school and a community with wonderful students and staff.
This year, I hope we can have a successful FFA program and become active not only at the sectional, but at the state level.
